Fallout 4 hasn't even released and it's being already nominated in the game of the year category; such is the excitement and enthusiasm surrounding the title.

For starters, the game will bear witness to a number of features that were not seen in the Fallout games of the past.

One of these features involves the new and improved crafting system that the game will offer. Going by previous reports, Fallout 4 is currently expected to feature 50 base weapons, with over 700 possible modifications to discover.

However, it seems like crafting may be an optional thing in the game.

Recently, Bethesda's Pete Hines, in an interview with Gamesradar, spoke extensively about the in-game crafting system. During the interview, Hines revealed that if someone is not interested in the crafting mechanic, they need not spend time on it as the game can be finished without its help.

If there's major level of customisation and crafting involved in any game on the same scale as Fallout 4, why wouldn't anyone, in his right mind, want to let go of it? However, Bethesda thinks there are gamers who don't really enjoy crafting, so full marks for providing both the options.

"It's a completely optional, freeform thing that you can do, if that's what you want to do," Hines explained. "If you don't care about that and you just want to play quests and play side quests, and finish the main quest and that sort of thing then you can just ignore all of this [crafting]. Or do as much or as little as you want."

Hines also added that there are benefits using the crafting system as much as possible. For instance, if you decide to build a town, merchants could show up there and set up their shops, offering added benefit to you. But then again, it isn't mandatory.

As of now, Fallout 4 is set to be launched for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on 10 November.

Stay tuned for more updates!
