Medical seats through the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam will go up by 10,000 in 2017, said Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste on Friday.

At least 58 medical colleges across the country will be upgraded, Singh said.

Singh, who was speaking at second healthcare summit-Rajasthan 2016, said that the ministry is doing everything to "provide medical and health services. Efficient services are being made available to public with the use of IT." Singh's statement came two days after a Ranchi woman was forced to eat off the floor at Jharkhand's biggest government hospital.

National Board of Examination will conduct the NEET for the post graduate dental courses, from November 30 to December 3, 2016 in 41 different cities of the country, the health ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry also stated that NEET for other medical post-graduate courses offering MS, MD will be held from December 5 to December 13, 2016.

"The entire procedure for registration and application for the examination is online," said the ministry adding that the entrance exam for AIIMS is not covered by NEET.
