National Award-winning choreographer Sivasankar master passed away on Sunday at 8 pm due to Covid-19 complications. He was aged 72 and survived by his wife Suganya and two sons – Ajay and Vijay.

He was battling for life for days after getting infected by Coronavirus. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. His elder son too is battling for life while his wife has been put on home quarantine.

His son had requested financial assistance after his father was admitted to the hospital. Chiranjeevi donated Rs 3 lakh while Dhanush and Sonu Sood contribute undisclosed amounts to ease the financial burden to his family.

Who was Sivasankar?
Sivasankar, who was born on 7 December, 1948, in Chennai, was passionate about dance since his childhood. After getting foundation classes in dance from Nataraj and Sakunthala, he started working as an assistant to dance master Saleem in mid-70s.

His first movie was a dance assistant was Sivaji Ganesan's 1975 Paattum Bharathamum which also had late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Sripriya, and Vijayakumar. Five years later, he turned independent choreographer with Kuruvikoodu.

He entered the Telugu film industry with Chiranjeevi's Khaidi way back in 1983. Since then, he choreographed in over 800 movies in different languages. Magadheera, Ammoru, Suryavamsam , Swayamvaram, Allari Pidugu, Arundhati, Mahatma, and Baahubali: The Beginning were some of his notable works.

He also acted in movies like Varalaaru, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaya, Paradesi, Sudigadu among others. Acting and choreographing songs apart, he was a judge in several reality shows on small screens.

His both songs have now been associated in the film industry as choreographers.
