Junior NTR's "Nannaku Prematho" has landed in legal trouble, with a section of the Muslim community reportedly complaining against a poster of the film featuring religious verses.
The entire unit of "Nannaku Prematho", which is slated to release as a Sankranti treat on 13 January, is busy with the promotion of the film. The cutouts of Junior NTR and posters of the movie have been erected in many places across the Telugu states. In one of those posters, Junior NTR and his leading lady Rakul Preet Singh are seen dancing against the backdrop of several things, including religious verses in Urdu, which has landed the film in trouble.
A person named Khaja Tanveer Ahmed has filed a complaint against the makers of "Nannaku Prematho" with the State Minorities Commission of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad on Saturday, according to DNA. He claims the heroine in an obscene posture against the backdrop of religious verses has hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.
Reports suggest the State Minorities Commission has issued show-cause notices to the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and the regional office of Central Board of Film Certification. The Commission has reportedly requested registration a criminal case against the producer, director and the actors of "Nannaku Prematho". It has also urged immediate withdrawal of the posters.
The Hyderabad Police have reportedly confirmed the news surrounding the poster of "Nannaku Prematho". DNA reports that two complaints were also registered against its makers in local police stations. Some people from the Muslim community also held a protest march from Jubilee Hills to the regional office of Central Board of Film Certification on Saturday.
It was reported that "Nannaku Prematho" was expected to clear the formalities of the Central Board last week. The makers have already made advance booking available almost a week before its release. The movie has registered decent bookings with just two days left for its release. It is being screened for officials of the censor board on Monday morning.
