In 2006, Shoaib Akhtar was suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board, along with Mohammed Asif, after the pair were tested positive for a performance-enhancing drugs. The celebrity dance show "Nach Baliye" is gearing up for the next season and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to bring in some freshness to the show.

According to a report in DNA, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has been approached to be part of the new season.

The makers are currently in talks with the cricketer and if the deal is sealed, Shoaib will shake a leg with his wife Rubab, whom he married last year.

"Though Shoaib is willing to shake a leg, his wife Rubab is a little hesitant. She is very young and shy. But the makers are trying to convince the pair to be a part of one episode at least," a source told the daily.

In the previous season, the show managed to bring in tennis star Sania Mirza and her cricketer husband Shoaib Malik to appear in an episode.

Unlike the previous seasons, the seventh season will have a new format. Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar, winners of the first season and Jay Bhanushali and Mahi Vij, who won the fifth season will apparently participate in the new season as challengers or wild card entrants.

Moreover, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, Chetan Bhagat and choreographer Marzi Pestonji have been confirmed as judges for "Nach Baliye 7", while Karan Patel of "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" and Rithvik Dhanjani are the new hosts. 

According to The Times of India report, Rashami Desai-Nandish Sandhu, Sangram Singh-Payal Rohatgi, Smiley Suri-Vineet Bangera and Mrunal Thakur-Sharad Tripathi have been confirmed as some of the contestants of the show.

There were also rumours that Kamaal R Khan, Mahesh Bhatt and wife Soni Razdan, Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna, Esha Deol and her husband, Bharat Takhtani, are some of the contestants who have been reportedly approached to participate in the upcoming season.
