New Tollywood releases such as "Mukunda" and "Chinnadana Nee Kosam" (CNK) have raked in decent collection at the box office in the first weekend. The Varun Tej starrer has topped the business chart, while the Nithiin starrer landed in the second place.

"Mukunda" rode on the back of huge hype and lot of expectations, as it marked the acting debut of new member from Mega family Varun Tej. Due to this buzz, the movie registered decent amount of advance ticket booking for its opening day.

"Mukunda" released in over 600 cinema halls across the globe on 24 December and opened to superb response with its occupancy ranging between 70% and 80%. The film ran to packed houses in many centres in Hyderabad and few other cities and collected approximately ₹3 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day.

Trade experts predicted "Mukunda" would show a big jump on its second day due to Christmas holiday, but its business dropped on Thursday. Mixed word of mouth took a toll on its business, making viewers look at another new release "Chinnadana Nee Kosam" as their first choice.

"Mukunda" failed to show growth in its business on Friday and Saturday. It did witness a jump in its numbers on Sunday, but the figures were not up to the mark.. The Varun Tej and Pooja Hegde starrer has collected approximately ₹11.50 crore at the global box office in the five-day extended first weekend.

"Chinnadana Nee Kosam" hit screens on 25 December. When compared to "Mukunda", the Nithiin starrer released in lesser number of cinema halls but the movie debuted to an overwhelming response in both single screens and multiplexes on Thursday.

"Chinnadana Nee Kosam" raked in decent collection on its opening day. But the mixed talk from the viewers and critics took its business downwards on the following days. The movie has collected approximately ₹10 crore at the worldwide box office in the four-day extended first weekend.
