Ahead of the launch, Maruti Suzuki's popular MPV in a facelifted avatar has started reaching dealerships. A fresh batch of spy pictures from a dealer stockyard was taken by TeamBHP and the cars come with India-specific exterior changes.

The main change in the Ertiga lies under the hood. The 1.3 multi-jet diesel engine, developing 89bhp and 200Nm of torque, will now come with SHVS small hybrid system that debuted with the Ciaz hybrid. The system makes use of lithium ion battery that gets charged with the help of regenerative braking. It converts the kinetic energy of the rolling wheels into electricity for charging the battery. Combined with the idle stop/start system, the 1.3-litre engine will return increased fuel efficiency.

The engine is mated to five-speed manual transmission. Like the Ciaz, the new Ertiga diesel will be available only with Hybrid system.

A new automatic transmission will be available with the petrol engine. The 1.4-litre K Series petrol engine producing 94bhp and 130Nm is mated to five-speed transmission.

The visual changes include chrome touches at front and rear. The facelift comes with embossing three slat grille covered in chrome. The fog lamp bezel also gets chrome touches. At the rear, a horizontal chrome slat above the registration plate is added. However, the reflectors near to the tail lamps, which is a part of the Indonesian upgrade, will not make it to India.

The interior of the car will get engine start/stop button, new upholstery, electric folding mirrors and keyless entry. The spy images also indicate SmartPlay infotainment system in higher variants.

Unlike the usual trend of increasing price with the facelift version, the new Ertiga is likely to be priced lower to the current model. This is achieved through the Central government's FAME scheme, which offers incentives of up to Rs 29,000 on electric and hybrid vehicles.

The Ertiga hybrid will be the second car from Maruti Suzuki to take advantage of the scheme, the first being the Ciaz Hybrid.
