Fans of "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus have a reason to rejoice if speculations about Microsoft purchasing upcoming survival horror game titled "Silent Hills" turns out to be true.

Ever since Japanese game developer Hideo Kojima announced his upcoming project in collaboration with Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro under the banner of Japanese video game publisher Konami, gaming world has been eagerly waiting for its release on PlayStation 4.

But video game lovers across the globe were disappointed to hear the news about Konami cancelling the project from PlayStation. One of them even wrote a petition on Change.org urging the game publisher to continue working on the project, which has now amassed over 150, 000 signatures.

"The cancellation of one of the most anticipated horror games is about the most heartbreaking thing horror fans had to swallow this year. Please continue the Development on Silent Hills, if the issue is money related, we would love to see a Crowdfunding campaign like Kickstarter to ensure you are getting all the financial help there is! We´d love to see it happen at some point and want to thank you for all the great games you have released so far!" wrote Yauheni.

However, fans were not alone in the fight as del Toro supported them and said, "Norman [Reedus, the Walking Dead actor who was attached to play the lead role] was super happy, Hideo was super happy, and so was I. I know there's a petition going on the internet and it's gathering signatures. I would add my signature to it, and hope that someone pays attention," according to IGN.

Although there is no official confirmation on whether "Silent Hills" will be resurrected, speculations suggest that Microsoft is planning to purchase the survival horror game as an Xbox One exclusive.

A You Tube channel named The Know has claimed that Microsoft is currently "hungry for exclusives" and is in talks with the Japanese video game publisher to purchase the franchise. It even stated that the deal is worth "billions" and the company will reportedly make an official announcement during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.

In case the game is resurrected, it is likely to be released in March 2016, as the source revealed that 80% of the game has been completed. But it remains to be seen whether Reedus will appear onscreen in a more intense and scarier role by next year or not.
