Mercedes-Benz India on Tuesday launched its tenth product for the calendar year, S 63 AMG sedan, which is priced at a whopping Rs 2.53 crore. The design of the potent variant of S-Class sedan is identical to the S 500, barring the AMG body kit. The body kit features new bumpers, side skirts, quad exhaust pipes with chrome touch and larger AMG alloy wheels, giving it a sporty look.

The sportiness is carried over to the interior with gloss black trim as opposed to the beige upholstery of the S 500. The car comes with luxury features such as massaging seats, climate control front seats and seat adjustment with memory function.

Engine is where the S 500 and S 63 AMG are leagues apart. The latter is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 that churns out 578bhp and a monstrous torque of 900Nm. This engine is mated to the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission sending power to rear wheels. The new AMG will pass the 100kmph mark in just 4.4 seconds and comes with a claimed top speed of 250kmph.

The S 63 AMG boast of safety features such as eight airbags, attention assist and aromatic suspension that allows adjusting the ground clearance of the car based on the terrain. The S 63 AMG also comes with the most notable safety feature of the S 500, the Magic Ride control system. The system uses cameras to scan the road up front and will adjust the suspension setup according the feedback for the most comfortable traverse.

The German manufacturer is on a roll this year with the plan of launching 15 cars and opening 15 new outlets. Mercedes-Benz will launch five more cars before 2016 and that will initiate a neck and neck competition for the annual sales with current leader Audi India.
