Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in vacation mode. After the news broke that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were holidaying with George and Amal Clooney, it has now been revealed that the recently married royal couple took a secret trip to Scotland and spent time with Prince Charles and Camilla.

According to US Weekly, the couple spent five days at Castle of Mey in Scotland. This was the first time the former Suits actress was visiting the castle.

A source told the publication that the duo bonded with Harry's father and step-mother over long walks and good food. "It's beautiful at the castle, with amazing views of Orkney Islands. It was five days of time outdoors, long walks, good food and quality family time," the insider said. The couple's quick getaway gave them a break from the ongoing Markle family drama.

"Charles and Camilla care deeply for Harry and Meghan, and with all that has been going on with Meghan's family, they wanted to get them out of the city and to the coast of Scotland," the source told the publication.

Royal correspondent Omid Scobie told Harper's Baazar that Meghan has a warm relationship with Harry's parents. "Meghan has developed a warm and close relationship with both Charles and Camilla. She particularly adores her father-in-law, who has been incredibly supportive during an eventful and testing few months."

An insider also revealed how the couple spent their holiday. "During the days they took long hikes along the coast (which looks out over John o' Groats) and the evenings were spent at the castle where a fleet of staff catered to their every whim," the source shared.

The Castle of Mey was previously called Barogill Castle. After the Queen purchased the 16th century property in 1952, she decided to change it and revamp it. The castle's official website reveals that Prince Charles regularly visits the property and supports the castle's trust.

The news about their visit comes a few days ahead of Princess Diana's 21st death anniversary. The royal family member died in a horrific car crash on August 31, 1997.
