Mary Kom divorce news: Boxer dating another man, living separately, financial losses led to separation?

Mary Kom is reportedly heading for a divorce. The last few years have seen several sports personalities heading for splitsville. After Yuzvendra Chahal, Sania Mirza, Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan; Mary Kom too might be planning to end her marriage. The Olympian got married twenty years ago in 2005 to husband, Karung Onkholer.

The duo has three sons and they adopted a girl child in 2018 as Mary Kom always wanted to have a girl. Reports of trouble in Mary Kom's marriage has left the nation shocked. HT quoted a source saying that the boxing icon is more than "just good friends" with a fellow boxer's husband. What has further added fuel to the fire is Mary calling him her 'business associate' in recent Instagram posts. IBT could not independently verify the reports.

Mary Kom dating someone?

"The separation rumours about Mary Kom and Onler might not be just rumours. No one knows the reason for sure, though. Everyone whispers about Mary ma'am being in a relationship with another boxer's husband. Speculation has been fuelled further by her recent Instagram posts featuring him as her business associate," HT report stated.

It further stated how the two have been living separately and what contributed to the turmoil. 

Living separately and financial loss

"Mary moved to Faridabad with their (four) children, while Onler has been living in Delhi with some family members," a source told Hindustan Times. The report added that the tension between the couple escalated after his unsuccessful bid in the 2022 Manipur assembly elections.

"Their differences escalated after the elections. Mary was reportedly unhappy about the financial losses — around INR 2–3 crores — incurred during the campaign and (the fact) that he lost," the report further. 

The news of Mary Kom planning for a divorce with husband has come out as a shock because Onler (as he is fondly known as) had put his football career on the backseat to support the boxer. He not only turned her coach but even took care of their kids all by himself. Priyanka Chopra starrer 'Mary Kom' showed Mary's boxing journey and how Onler stood by her, giving her dreams a wing.

Now, whether this is just another husband-wife quarrel or something that the couple can't resolve; remains to be seen.
