It looks like the launch of the new S-Cross has almost been confirmed as emerging reports on the web suggest that the company will pull the wraps off its much-awaited S-Cross in the first month of new year.

A new report of MotorBeam, citing its sources reveal that Maruti, the country's largest carmaker is set to take its SX4 S-Cross to Indian road in January, 2015.However, the report did not divulge the exact launch date of the model.

For auto enthusiasts in the country, SX4 S-Cross is not something new. There have been plenty of spy shots and leaked reports on this model since its first appearance at the Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year.

For starters, SX4 S-Cross, a model based on Suzuki SX4 platform is rumoured to get LED daytime-running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black-cladding. Like its counterparts in Europe, the India-specific model could also get Suzuki's "Allgrip" all-wheel-drive system.

Coming to the engine specifications of the upcoming SX4 S-Cross, the Indian-bound version of the car is likely to be powered by 1.6-litre diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox.

In Europe, the car is sold with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which can churn out 120PS peak power and 156Nm peak torque and 1.6 litre MultiJet engine, capable of generating 120PS and 320Nm torque. The latest report also adds that 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine powered model could also make its way to the Indian market.

Inside the cabin, the soon-to-be-launched SX4 S-Cross is likely to feature black theme with silver lining. Once it hits the market, the new Maruti big car will be squared off against Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano in India.

Speaking of the pricing, Maruti is likely to price its S-Cross at around ₹8 lakh.
