Maruti Suzuki switches to the aggressive mode with regard to product launches during the festive season. The launch of the Baleno hatchback and sale via Nexa showrooms is in top gear, with bookings of over 21,000 units.

If the latest reports are to be believed, Suzuki Ignis compact SUV, unveiled at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show, will enter India in September 2016. The car is reportedly codenamed as YJC and it is expected to be the third offering from the Nexa premium dealerships.

In flesh, Ignis will measure 3,700mm in length, 1,660mm in width, 1,595mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,438mm. The compact SUV is expected to get a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel SHVS engines. The specifications are not out yet. Ignis will be available in both 4WD and 2WD versions when launched in India.

A report published by Gaadiwaadi.com also indicates that the car is likely to be priced between Rs 4.8 lakh to Rs 6.8 lakh, which makes a compelling case in the segment. Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be completely made in India with 95% localization.

Despite being positioned as compact SUV, Ignis is expected to rival against Renault Kwid hatchback and the upcoming Mahindra S101 (codename) in terms of pricing and dimensions.

The previous reports also suggest that Ignis will be part of Maruti Suzuki's cars line-up for the 2016 Auto Expo scheduled in February.
