A 25-year-old man's penis was chopped off in an attack days before his engagement in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district. The attackers also fled with the victims' genitals.

The night of horror

According to police, locals said that the victim was at a riverside to attend nature's call when he was attacked on Thursday. "Some unknown men overpowered the 25-year-old and bobbitised him. The incident took place ahead of his engagement which is scheduled for February 6," a police officer said.

A police team also conducted a search on the spot to trace the severed organ for a reconstructive surgery. However, nothing was found.

While the victim has been referred to the Gwalior District Hospital, another investigating officer said that neither the victim nor his relatives suspect anyone.

A similar crime was reported in Rajasthan's Churu District where a 30-year-old self-proclaimed godman's genitals were allegedly chopped off. The victim was identified as one Santosh Das. Reports had claimed that the villagers from Churu's Taranagar town had chopped his genitals in order to teach him a lesson.

One of Das's neighbours had accused him of having an illicit relationship with a girl in the village and pointing out at his fake sainthood, the neighbour had warned Das to leave the village.

The police were informed by the locals who saw Das yelling in pain. "He was profusely bleeding and was rushed to the government hospital in Bikaner. We are yet to record his statements to know why he took the step," a senior police official had said.

Another incident was reported in May 2017 when a 23-year-old law student from Kerala bobbitised a monk named Gangeshananda Theerthapada alias Hariswamy in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram. It was alleged that the monk had been molesting a girl for three years.
