Tamil actress Gopishantha, better known by her stage name Manorama/Aachi, died in Chennai at 11.30 pm on 10 October and her sudden death has shocked many celebs in the south Indian film industry.

Having started her acting career at 12, Manorama featured in 1,200 films, 1,000 stage performances and several television series. She held a Guinness World Record for acting in more than 1,000 films in 1988. She was honoured with the Kalaimamani award (by the government of Tamil Nadu), Padma Shri award in 2002 and National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for movie Pudhiya Pathai in 1989.

Manorama had acted with several superstars, including MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Jayalalithaa, Nagesh, Cho, Thengai Srinivasan and the present day actors. Many stars from southern film industry are saddened by her sudden demise. Soon after hearing the news, stars like Rajinikanth, Goundamani, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Vishal and other stars visited her residence and paid their last respects to her.

Radikaa Sarathkumar, Khushbu Sundar, Suriya, Manchu Manoj, Dhanush, Siddharth, Lakshmi Manchu, Trisha Krishnan, Shruti Haasan, Tamannaah, Priyamani and some other southern celebs took to their Twitter pages to express their grief.
