Legendary director Mani Ratnam and Oscar winner AR Rahman have mesmerised the audience with many classic films, which became box office hits.

The duo has once again teamed up for Dulquer Salmaan-Nithya Menen starrer "O Kadhal Kanmani", which will hit the screens on 10 April, 2015.

Rahman will compose the soundtrack album and film score for the Mani Ratnam directorial, which also has Prakash Raj, Leela Samson, Prabhu Lakshman and others in pivotal roles.

The duo has earlier created magic in films like "Roja" (1992), "Bombay" (1995 ) and "Dil se..." (1998) and others.

"Roja"

Mani Ratnam's 1992 political romantic drama "Roja" turned out to be one of the best films of the filmmaker. It stars Arvind Swamy and Madhoo in the lead roles. The seven hit tracks of the film, including "Kadhal Rojaave", "Chinna Chinna Asai" and "Pudhu Vellai Mazha", were composed by Rahman, for which he received the first National award for Best Music Direction.

"Bombay"

Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala starrer "Bombay" (1995) is about the Babri Masjid controversy in Ayodhya, which led to the Bombay Riots. The film became a box office hit and was also famous for its superhit songs, including "Hamma Hamma", "Uyire Uyire", "Malarodu Malaringu" and others, composed by Rahman.

"Iruvar"

Mani Ratnam's 1997 political drama "Iruvar" became a popular film due to many reasons. The star cast included Mohanlal, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Prakash Raj, Tabu, Gouthami, Revathi and Nassar. Meanwhile, Rahman's music was the other highlight of the film, which had the popular songs "Hello Mister Edirkatchi", "Narumugaye" and "Unnodu Naan Irundha", among others.

"Kannathil Muthamittal"

Rahman received his fourth National award for Best Music Direction in 2003 for Mani Ratnam's "Kannathil Muthamittal". The film, starring Madhavan and Simram, had hit numbers like "Vellai Pookal", "Signore Signore" and "Sattena Nenaindhadhu Nenjam".

"Alaipayuthey"

Madhavan and Shalini mesmerised the fans with their chemistry in the superhit romantic film "Alaipayuthey", which dealt with the tensions of married life. All the songs in the film were composed by Rahman. Songs like "Pachchai Nirame", "Snehithane Snehithane" and "Alaipayuthey" were well received by the audience.

"Raavanan"

"Usure Pogudhey" and "Kalvare" were the hit songs of the 2010 film "Raavanan", directed by Mani Ratnam.

"Kadal"

Even though Mani Ratnam's 2013 film "Kadal" failed to make a mark at the box office, the film was recognised for the amazing song "Nenjukkule", composed by Rahman.
