Manchester United fans around the world will be thoroughly disappointed when they come to know that Pedro Rodriguez has completed his move to Chelsea and so has Nicolas Otamendi to Manchester City, on Thursday.

The Barcelona forward was being chased by the Red Devils for quite some time but for some unknown reason, United manager Louis Van Gaal and vice-chairman Ed Woodward pulled the plug on that chase. Eventually, Chelsea came up with a late bid and snatched the player to join the club at Stamford Bridge for the ongoing season.

Pedro missed Barcelona training in order to complete his medical and complete his signing with the defending champions of the English Premier League who have made a horrible start to the season. Chelsea are yet to win a game in this new edition of the premier league and had suffered a thrashing from City in their last game.

Manchester City too did not leave any stone unturned as they continued the race to sign Otamendi and did it successfully on Thursday. The Argentine defender has signed a five-year deal with City and his transfer fee was around £32 million.

"I am here to give my best, to fight game by game and push City to the highest peaks for as long as possible, and I wish we will be able to win several cups and titles. That's the most important. To be here inside a club that looks so wonderful from the outside is a dream," Otamendi told reporters after completing his move.

United were looking for a central defender and a forward to bolster their attack. It is not that they do not have enough players or bench power, but they needed specialists in these two positions on the field.

No one knows what is going on in the minds of United boss Louis Van Gaal as he seems to be very happy with the players he has got this season. He had hinted earlier that he might sign few more players so that they can put up a good show in all the games this season and bring back the lost glory to the Old Trafford. United have made a good start to their season and have remained unbeaten in this editon of the EPL.
