Manchester United have unveiled their biggest signing of the summer, and no, it's not Cristiano Ronaldo. The home kit for the 2015-16 season is out and the whopping £750million ten-year deal with Adidas signed earlier this summer has finally bore fruit.

The home kit sports a classic V-neck collar and the quintessential three white stripes running down the shoulder that reminds one of a vintage Red Devils jersey.

And this is exactly what the fans expected the German sportswear giants to bring out after the end of the 13-year-long association with Nike.

"Taking inspiration from classic three-stripe United kits from the 1980s, adidas have reengineered these iconic designs with a modern twist, taking familiar style features that were loved by the fans and combining them with the latest performance technologies to produce innovative, modern classics," a statement from the club read.

The shirt costs $90 [£60, ₹6000] (for the half-sleeve) and $100 [£65, ₹6,500] (for the full-sleeve) from the club's official store. The kit is priced at $70 [£45, ₹4,500] and $90 [£60, ₹6000] respectively for the kids.

The female fans can get their hands on the kit at $80 [£52, ₹5,200].

The man behind the jersey, adidas designer Inigo Turner, who is also a lifelong United fan, says that the idea behind the jersey was about retaining the vintage look.

"At Adidas we have been on a real journey in creating these new kits for Manchester United. This landmark sponsorship is not the first time we have partnered with the club and it is with these iconic kits of the past that we drew our inspiration from," Turner said.

"We have aimed to break expectations by reengineering simple but impactful design features such as the classic v-neck collar and the iconic three-stripe detailing down the arms as our commitment to giving Manchester United a truly ground-breaking kit for the 2015/16 season."

Turner also spoke about the 'royal red' colour that defines the spirit of the club, and he said that this was one of the intricacies he had to work on to give the kit the perfection that is synonymous with Manchester United.

"It [the colour used on the strip] is called 'real red'. It was crucial that the red used is correct. The club has an archive of jerseys, all of which have a similar red to them, so we wanted the colour which United are synonymous with now and also the one which is close to the one we had in the past.

"So it involved looking at the current red and then checking it against the one we had on the old adidas shirt. They're not actually that far apart so we chose one which fits for both. It's a unique red for the club and we hope the fans will like it."

Red Devils fans all around the world can get a glimpse of their favourite stars don the jersey in their first Premier League game of the season against Tottenham on 8 August.
