It is a proud moment for Mammootty's family as the megastar's son and young Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan bagged the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor in 2015. Many father-son duo of the industry, including Mohanlal-Pranav, Jayaram-Kalidas, Fazil-Fahadh, Sukumaran and Prithviraj have also won the prestigious state award before.

Mammootty -  Dulquer Salmaan

Mammootty is a five-time Kerala State Film Best Actor Award winner. He bagged his first state award in the erstwhile category of Best Second Actor for his performance in the 1981 movie "Ahimsa" and then the Best Actor Award for the movie "Adiyozhukkukal" in 1984. He also won the prestigious award in 1989, 1993, 2004 and 2009, for the films "Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha," "Mrigaya," "Mahayana," "Vidheyan," "Ponthan Mada," "Valtsalyam," "Kazhcha" and "Paleri Manikyam," respectively.

Mammootty's son Dulquer Salmaan, who began his acting career with the Malayalam movie "Second Show" in 2006, bagged his first State Award for Best Actor for his performance in Martin Prakkat's directorial venture "Charlie" in 2015.

Mohanlal and Pranav Mohanlal

Superstar Mohanlal is a six-time State Award winner in the Best Actor category, having won the first of them in 1986 for his performance in Sathyan Anthikkad's "TP Balagopalan M.A." He has then bagged the award in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2005 and 2007 for the movies "Abhimanyu," "Kilukkam," "Ulladakkam," "Spadikam," "Kaalapani," "Vanaprastham," "Thanmathra" and "Paradesi," respectively. The actor was also given the Special Jury Award in 1988 for the films "Padamudra," "Chithram," "Ulsavapittennu," "Aryan" and "Vellanakalude Nadu."

The superstar's son Pranav has acted in only one movie, "Punarjani," for which he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artiste in 2002.

Jayaram  and Kalidas Jayaram

Jayaram bagged the Kerala State Special Jury Award in 1996 for his performance in "Thooval Kottaram" and the erstwhile Second Best Actor Award for the movie "Swayamvara Panthal"
in 2000.

Celebrity couple Jayaram and Parvathy's son Kalidas Jayaram made his acting debut as a child artiste in the 2000 movie "Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal" and bagged his first National Award and State Award for Best Child Artiste in 2003 for his performance in "Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum." The young actor is all set to make his entry as a hero with the upcoming Tamil film "Oru Pakka Kathai."

Sukumaran and Prithviraj Sukumaran

Late Mollywood superstar Sukumaran was honoured with the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in MT Vasudevan Nair's film "Bandhanam" in 1978.

Sukumaran's son Prithviraj is the receipient of the prestigious award twice, in 2012 and 2006 for his performances in "Celluloid," "Ayalum Njanum Thammil" and "Vaasthavam." His production venture "Indian Rupee" was also awarded the Best Film in 2011.

Fazil  and Fahadh Faasil

Many movies of the veteran filmmaker Fazil, including "Manichithrathazhu," "Ennennum Kannettante," "Nokketha Dhoorathu Kannum Nattu," "Ente Mamattikkuttiyammakku" and "Manjil Virinja Pookkal," have won the State Award.

Fahadh Faasil, who made his acting debut in his father's 2002 movie "Kaiyethum Doorath," bagged the Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actor for the films "Artist" and "North 24 Kaatham" in 2013 and the erstwhile Second Best Actor Award for his performance in the 2000 movie "Akam."
