Malayalam actor and scenarist Anoop Menon tied the knot to his long time friend Shema on Saturday morning. The wedding took place at 7.30 am at the actor's home in the presence of close friends and family members.
The wedding was a low key affair and the actor had earlier announced that he will donate the wedding money to cancer patients. The couple had announced that it does not make sense for them spend the money on a feast and they would instead prefer to donate it to those who are in need. Recently director Ashiq Abu and actress Rima Kallingal also donated their wedding money to cancer patients.
Few hours before the wedding, the actor thanked his fans for their support and sought everybody's blessings.
"Getting married to my longtime friend Shema Alexander today morning 7.30 am at my home...you all have been the pillars of support all through my life...humbly seeking your blessings and prayers...love you all," Anoop tweeted.

Shema, who hails from Pathanapuram, is the daughter of planter Thottumukkath Prince Alexander and late Lilly. Since the news of Anoop's wedding broke out, there were many rumours about the bride. Later, the actor revealed that his fiancée is not associated with the film industry and is his close friend for the past five years.
For Shema, this is her second marriage. She was earlier married to businessman Reni of Aban group, who died of a heart attack eight years ago. She has an adopted kid who is 16 years old.
Anoop was earlier rumoured to be in a relationship with actress Bhavana. Gossip columns were abuzz with the reports of their marriage, which both of them had denied.
Anoop has acted in nearly 50 movies, scripted eight movies, and turned lyricist for nearly four movies. He received Kerala State Film Awards for Second Best Actor and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 2008 movie "Thirakkatha" and South Indian International Movie Award for Best Lyricist for the song "Mazhaneerthullikal" ("Beautiful"- 2011).
