Travel portal MakeMyTrip and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) have found a place in the list of 'Fortune Next 500' Indian companies.

Topping the list is Redington India, distributor of Apple smartphones in the country, with an annual revenue of Rs 1,690 crore.

Other firms which have made it to the list include RBL Bank (The Ratnakar Bank Limited) and Inox Wind.

While the Kolhapur-headquartered RBL Bank stood at 31st position, MakeMyTrip and IRCTC occupied the 122th and 328th positions respectively.

Among the other Next 500 companies, 434 are privately-held firms and occupy 86% of the total revenues of the companies in the list.

"The 434 private companies on the list, which account for 86 per cent of the total revenue, have seen 6.3 per cent growth, while the 31 government-owned companies with 6.9 per cent share have seen a 7.7 per cent decline. There are 35 foreign-owned companies on the list with a 7.1 per cent share have seen a 7.9 per cent growth," The Economic Times quoted the magazine as saying.

Orient Paper & Industries, FAG Bearings India, Lycos Internet, Vatika and Cochin Shipyard are the other companies in the list.

"These companies (Next 500 companies) keep the wheels of the economy moving. They are not the massive conglomerates that seem to define India Inc in the media or public consciousness," the magazine said, according to ET.
