Telugu film Majnu got a good opening and collected over Rs 15 crore gross at the worldwide box office in three days. The movie has beaten the first weekend collection record of Nani's last outing, Gentleman.

Nani's success rate had generated a lot of buzz for Majnu. Adding to this, its promos received a massive amount of public attention. After seeing the response, its distributor booked over 700 screens across the globe. Trade experts has also predicted that the film would get a superb opening at the box office.

The Virinchi Varma-directed romantic comedy-drama got a positive welcome on Friday. Majnu collected Rs 5.37 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day. The movie earned approximately Rs 3.37 crore for its global distributors on its opening day.

The Nani and Anu Emmanuel-starrer movie got a positive response from both the critics and audience alike. The strong word-of-mouth reviews took its business upwards on Saturday and Sunday. As per early estimates, Majnu has collected approximately over Rs 15 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. The film is estimated to have earned over Rs 8.70 crore for its distributors in three days.

Gentleman, which was released in theatres on June 17, collected Rs 14.95 crore gross at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend. It was the highest-grossing film for Nani in 2016. Now Majnu has shattered this record. In just three days, the film has recovered over 50 percent of the investments to its distributors, who shelled out Rs 16.5 crore on its global theatrical rights.
