Home-grown UV-maker Mahindra and Mahindra is prepped for the launch of its new and longer version of the TUV300 in India soon. The new longer wheelbase version of the TUV300, dubbed the TUV300 Plus, has now been revealed in a new set of spy images. This is an indication that the TUV300 Plus is in its final stages of production.

The spy images shared by the folks at AutocarIndia indicate the TUV300 Plus borrows most of its design and feature elements from its shorter version, the TUV300. However, it looks bigger in its overall body proportions and seems to have a restyled rear end, which has features such as a new set of taillamps.

Launched in September 2015, Mahindra TUV300 has a 1.5-litre three-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine that develops 84bhp at 3,750rpm and 230Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm, mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. It was later joined by mHawk100 engine.

However, its longer version is rumoured to come with a 1.99-litre engine that powers the Scorpio sold in the Delhi-NCR region. It can churn out 120hp of power. There are also rumours that the TUV300 Plus could get a 2.2-litre diesel engine as well.

According to various reports online, the TUV300 Plus could be the replacement of the company's ageing Xylo. While the company is yet to confirm the launch date of the model in India, rumours are rife that the launch could happen in the coming months — even as early as in January 2018.

Mahindra is also testing a new MPV the codenamed the U321 in India, which is also expected to be launched in the country in 2018. The U321 will be Mahindra's first monocoque MPV and has been developed at its North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in Michigan and Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.
