It looks like we are inching closer to the launch of the much-awaited Mahindra Mojo 300. If latest reports on the Internet are to be believed, Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to launch its Mojo 300 bike in the India before the festival season this year.

A Motor Octane report quoting Dr Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, said that the 300cc bike will enter the market in the first half of the current financial year. Although the report did not specify the date, the news lends credence to earlier reports that the trial production of Mojo 300 is underway at the company's plant ahead of June launch.

The Mahindra Mojo made its maiden appearance at the Auto Expo, 2010.

The Mahindra Mojo 300 is likely to draw power from a 296cc liquid cooled, 4-stroke single-cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 27bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque 25nm at 6,500rpm, and is likely to come mated to a six-speed transmission.

The features expected in Mojo include LED daytime-running lights and a new fuel tank. Most importantly, the bike is likely to flaunt USD (Up Side Down) forks and twin mufflers. The Mojo is also expected get mudguard, Pirelli Sport Demon tyres mounted on Y-spoke black alloy wheels and LED tail-light. The stopping power of the bike is likely to come from the disc brakes seen on both front and rear wheels.

Expected to be priced around ₹2 lakh, the Mahindra Mojo 300 will take on the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300R, Honda CBR 250R/300R and KTM Duke when launched in India.
