If the emerging reports on the web are anything to go by, the Gusto 125, the next offering from Mahindra's stable, will take to the roads on 12 January.

It was reported a few days ago that Mahindra is gearing up to launch a new scooter that goes by the codename G108. Now a report in Autosarena claims that the G108, which is supposedly the powerful version of the current Gusto in the market, will be launched in the India on 12 January.

Mahindra Gusto 125 is expected to be pitted against Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access. As for the engine, the new Gusto could get the same 124.6 cc, 4-stroke engine of Rodeo UZO 125 and Duro DZ. The engine is rumoured to deliver around 12bhp of power and 12Nm of torque and is likely to be tuned for better fuel efficiency.

The current Mahindra Gusto is powered by a 109.6cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that develops 8bhp at 7500rpm and 9Nm of torque at 5500rpm mated to a CVT gearbox.

Gusto 125, which will be based on its smaller sibling, is expected to get some of its features like height adjustable seat, find-me lamps and remote flip key. From the word on the internet, Mahindra Gusto 125 could get contrast styling with dual tone ORVMs and 12 inch tubeless tyres. The scooter may also get more storage space and LED taillamps.
