After trailing behind Hyundai Creta SUV for two months, Mahindra Bolero regained the top selling spot in the country when the sales reports of October came out. Mahindra sold 7,754 units of the Bolero in October, while Hyundai Creta kept Indian manufacturer on the toes with 7,225 units. The difference is wafer thin with 529 units.

The Mahindra Bolero lost its top selling SUV spot in August 2015, immediately after the launch of Hyundai Creta. Hyundai sold 7,437 units of Creta in August and 7,320 units in September 2015, while Mahindra managed to sell only 4,804 units in August and 5,585 units in September.

Going by the trend, it is significant jump in sales for Bolero. This is primarily due to the increased sales in festive month. Hyundai Creta's saw a marginal dip after rocket sales in first two months. The September sales of 7,320 units have come down to 7,225 in October for the Creta and the recent increase in also price seems to have slowed the bookings of Hyundai's SUV.

The Hyundai Creta was welcomed for its class-leading features and refreshing design, despite being priced higher compared to its rivals. The Creta raked up 15,000 pre-launch bookings, positioning itself as a real challenger for the Bolero in sales right from the launch.

The Mahindra Bolero is the all-time bestselling vehicle for the manufacturer and was India's best-selling SUV for the ninth year in row till 2014-15. With the neck and neck competition, it remains to be seen who will be the top selling SUV for 2015-16.
