Keralites' favourite breakfast puttu is on its way to Guinness world records, after the students of Oriental School of Hotel Management (OSHM) at Lakkidi, Wayanad prepared 18.2 feet long puttu on Monday.

In an attempt to set Guinness world records, 12 final year hotel management students used 20-ft special aluminium mould to prepare the longest steam cake (made with rice flour, grated coconut and water), which took them nearly 1.15 hours to cook.

Attukal Pongala

The religious festival, Attukal Pongala has found a spot among the world records for the single largest gathering of women. Worshippers prepare pongala at Attukal Bhagavathy temple in Thiruvananthapuram as an offering to Attukal Bhagavathy.

Shortest Cow

Manikyam, 6, from Atholi, Kerala has officially become the world's shortest cow with a height of just 61.5 cm, which is even smaller than a Labrador. 

Longest Dance Marathon by an Individual

"The dancing queen of Kerala", Kalamandalam Hemalatha holds the Guinness World Record for the "longest dance marathon by an individual." The 37-year old Mohiniyattam dancer performed for 123 hours and 15 minutes.

Largest Kaikottikali dance

Kerala is known for its traditional art forms and Thiruvathira kali performed by women is one of the important dance forms of the state. In an attempt to become part of the world records, more than 5,000 people performed Thiruvathira kali  on 2 February 2015 at Christ College ground in Irinjalakuda. The event was organised by a group called Thanima.

18,112 Santa Clauses

18,112 Santa Clauses took part in a Christmas procession at the archdiocese of Thrissur in Kerala entering the Guinness World Records for having the largest number of people dressed up as Christmas Father.

The "Boun Natale 2014" event was the idea of Archbishop Andrews Thazhath, breaking the previous record with 13,000 people by Derry in Northern Ireland.

Guinness Pakru

Apart from all these, cine actor Ajayan, also known as Undapakru, has been recognised as the world's shortest comedy actor by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2008. Two-feet and six-inches tall, Pakru has become one of the main actors in South India.
