LG's smartphones make quite an impression and the company is set to continue its line-up as we step into the New Year. With the upcoming CES 2015 event in January, smartphone makers are trying to set their benchmarks for the year and LG will do the same with a refreshed smartphone line-up.

We haven't heard anything directly from the South Korean tech giant, but popular chip maker Qualcomm has teased an image of what appears to be an LG G Flex sequel.

Qualcomm tweeted a cryptic image on Monday that shows a "new #Snapdragon 800 powered smartphone" set to be unveiled at the coveted Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. Though the chip-maker hasn't shared any specific details about the smartphone, it is pretty clear that the handset in question is the LG G Flex 2.

The conclusion is based on the rear buttons and the distinctive pattern same as LG's self-healing polycarbonate textured back cover. Also, the only other smartphone with rear buttons that is set to launch during the CES event is a new ASUS Zenfone. But it is highly unlikely that the teased smartphone in Qualcomm's tweet is from ASUS as the company is expected to continue its partnership with Intel. Besides, the only possibility that challenges the teased image for an LG G Flex 2 is an entirely new smartphone.

Qualcomm's tweet also raises the question whether the chip-maker is referring to the existing Snapdragon 800 processor or the 800 series, which includes Snapdragon 801, 805 or even the 810. Anyhow, the consumer electronics extravaganza is not too far off to bite your nails in anticipation. It should be worth watching what these tech giants have planned for 2015.
