Lenovo is taking its battle with rival smartphone makers to a whole new level. After successfully drawing people's attention towards it's cheapest 4G smartphone – the A6000 – the Chinese tech giant wants to take it further with a succeeding model. At the MWC 2015, Lenovo unveiled the A7000 smartphone with a massive overhaul compared to its predecessor.
Lenovo A7000 appears as the bigger sibling of the first smartphone in Lenovo's A series. Featuring a bigger display, faster processor, better camera among other upgrades, the Lenovo A7000 manages to keep the price affordable. Display
The display in Lenovo A7000 is slightly bigger. The handset features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, compared to Lenovo A6000's 5-inch display at same 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. If size does matter, Lenovo A7000 is worth the wait.
Processor
Lenovo's latest entry is slightly faster than the previous model. Lenovo A7000 is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek processor with 16-core Mali-T760 GPU, while Lenovo A6000 runs using a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC.
RAM
To back up the improved processor, Lenovo has doubled the RAM size in its latest model. The A7000 smartphone packs 2GB RAM compared to A6000's 1GB RAM size. The storage option remains the same in both phones at 8GB, expandable via microSD card.
Camera
Lenovo A6000 was lauded for its impressive 8-megapixel, rear-facing camera with auto-focus, touch focus and face detection. Lenovo decided to bring the same camera sensor into its A7000 model but upgraded the front-facing camera to offer greater quality selfies. The Lenovo A7000 packs a 5MP front facing snapper compared to A6000's 2-megapixel shooter.
Battery
Lenovo A7000 is backed by a 2,900mAh battery, while the A6000 features 2,300mAh.
Other Significant Upgrades
Lenovo is touting its latest A7000 as the industry's first smartphone with Dolby Atmos audio technology. With this, users are expected to get the best sound of people, places and things. "Voices and noises have broader range from high to lows," the company writes, according to GSM Arena.
Price and Availability
Lenovo's A6000 has been a huge success in India with a low price tag of just ₹6,999. With all the notable upgrades, the latest Lenovo phone is expected to cost ₹9,999. The phone's US pricing is $169. The A7000 will be available in March across all markets.
