"The Legend of Korra" fans across the globe can finally rejoice as co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are planning to explore the lesbian relationship between Korra and Asami Sato through three-part comic book series.

Ever since Nickelodeon removed the animation series from its programme list, admirers are eagerly waiting for a positive nod from Netflix to take up the show.

While the fans initially requested the online media platform to pick up the Avatar franchise through an online petition, a few of them asked for a spin-off series focusing on the couple.

There were also several speculations doing the rounds that Konietzko and DiMartino are correctly concentrating on individual works and followers of the series cannot expect a new season or spin-off.

But the creators informed their fans that they have not broke up and are working on a comic book trilogy on Korra and Asami's relationship along with Dark House comics.

"We didn't break up, but we are working on different things. We're definitely going to focus on Korra and Asami's relationship," IGN quoted DiMartino.

They even shared their excitement about the positive reactions they received from fans on their concept of lesbian couple. "You pick a certain pairing, some people are going to be happy, and some people are going to be unhappy... We were just making sure we liked it, and in this case we did," said Konietzko.

In a similar vein, DiMartino said, "It's been so great to see how much it connected with everyone. We knew people would hopefully enjoy it, but you never know... It's touched people on an emotional level that I didn't expect."

However, Nickelodeon or Netflix are yet to make an official announcement on whether they will be considering "The Legend of Korra" spin-off comic series for an animation show. So fans will have to wait a little longer for more updates.
