Home-grown smartphone maker, Lava International has launched a new handset, dubbed as Iris Win1, in India.

The new Lava Iris Win1 sports 4.0-inch WVGA screen and runs on the Windows Phone 8.1 OS powered by the Snapdragon quad-core CPU with 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory and a 1,950mAh battery.

With the launch of Iris Win1, Lava becomes fifth Indian OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to offer the Microsoft's Windows Phone OS-based device. It now shares the elite club with its sister firm, Xolo, Micromax, Karbonn and Celkon.

As per reports, Lava Iris Win1 will be made available initially on Flipkart for just ₹4,999 on Thursday, 4 December. Details of wider availability of the phone through brick-and-mortar stores across India are awaited from the company in coming days.

Competition:

Going by the specifications, it is a smart buy for a first-time smartphone user.

Priced just under ₹5000, this new Lava phone is certain to pose a threat to the Windows Phone operating system software maker, Microsoft, which launched Lumia 535 in India last week.

It will also be up against with its very own sister company's Xolo Q900s. Other competitors include Celkon Win 400, Micromax's Win W121, W092, , Karbonn Titanium Wind W4 and also the old Nokia-branded Lumia 530 & 525.
