Lava is aiming for dominance in the Indian smartphone market with a series of new launches. To attract buyers with localised features, Lava brings all-new Iris 465 with support in 21 Indian languages.

This would help the phonemaker attract buyers from all over India. The smartphone is priced competitively to meet the needs of budget-conscious buyers and makes a strong appeal with its decent specifications.

Lava Iris 465 supports many regional languages, including Hindi, Bodo, Sanskrit, Nepali, Marathi, Dogri, Konkani, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Bengali, Assamese, Maithili, Manipuri, Gujarati, Punjabi, Santali, Odiya, Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Kannada. The smartphone is expected to go on sale via the company's retail channels next week.

According to Lava, the Iris 465 features a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with 480 x 854 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz dual core processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD cards. The handset has room for two SIM cards and supports 3G as well as GPRS/ EDGE, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The phone has a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 0.3 megapixel front snapper. Lava Iris 465 features scene detection, face recognition, panorama, geo-tagging, best shot, smile shot, and HDR camera modes, according to NDTV. The handset has a 1,750mAh battery to keep the device running for up to 22 hours on 2G talk time or almost 11 hours on 3G talk.

Price and availability

Lava will launch Iris 465 in two colour variants, white and black. The exact details of availability are unknown at the moment, but the company is expected to commence sales sometime next week. Lava Iris 465 will retail for ₹4,499.
