Tata owned luxury SUV manufacturer Land Rover has confirmed over 200 bookings for its yet to be launched Discovery Sport in India.

The company initiated booking of Discovery Sport on 10 August and 200 bookings in just four days has increased its confidence ahead of the official launch on 2 September.

Discovery Sport is the first in the new Discovery family and will replace Freelander 2. The USP of the SUV would be the 5+2 seating configuration.

The SUV will sport luxury features such as In control touchscreen system, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlamps and dual-zone climate control. Offering off-road credibility is the Terrain Response system, which is the four-wheel drive system, allowing the SUV to traverse on different surfaces.

On safety front, Discovery Sport boasts of first pedestrian airbag, autonomous emergency braking, and a body shell featuring both high-strength steel and light-weight aluminium in its segment.

The SUV will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine in two states of tune - 147bhp and 187bhp. The engine will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

It will be locally manufactured at the Jaguar Land Rover's Pune facility and is expected to be priced around Rs 60 lakh.
