Italian sports car manufacturer Lamborghini's boss Stephan Winkelmann revealed at last year's Pebble Beach Concours event held in August that a rear-drive drive (RWD) Huracan was under consideration.

A report from AutocarUK indicates the car is getting readied and unveil can be expected at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show scheduled to begin from 17 November.

The details of the car are under wraps. However, the report indicates the Huracan RWD will be positioned above the standard all-wheel-drive version and is expected to be premium on pricing.

If you are bewildered with the positioning and the expected higher price, the rear-wheel-drive version will essentially boost the performance of the Huracan. Switching to RWD layout will bring a weight loss compared to the current AWD Huracan which tips the scales at 1,422 kg.

The weight loss will also help the car to run faster and thereby a slight increase in output. However, on paper, the Huracan RWD will have the same specification as the standard Huracan.

The successor to the Gallardo, Lamborghini's all time best seller, the Huracan was launched in 2014. The super car is powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that develops 602bhp at 8,250rpm and 560Nm of torque at 6,500rpm which is shared with the second generation Audi R8. The engine is mated to seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with drive select mode.

Lamborghini will be selling the Huracan RWD in limited numbers, probably as limited edition in select markets. The Sant'Agata Bolognese-based company recently introduced Huracan Spyder, which is also expected to get the RWD version sometime in 2016.
