With October 2015 sales figures out from most of the car manufacturers, Renault India seems to have put up a stupendous performance, registering an exponential growth of 92%.

A report in Gaadiwaadi.com says the French manufacturer sold 7,200 units in October this year.

It is apparent the growth was led by a surge in sales of the Kwid hatchback, which was launched on 24 September. The pseudo SUVish hatchback launched, for an impressive price starting at Rs 2.56 lakh, saw more than 50,000 customer orders within a month of launch, with the current waiting period reportedly up to eight months.

Thought the variant-wise sales details are not out yet, going by the trend, the Duster SUV seems to be the second most sold car from the Renault India portfolio. Other models of Renault, the Fluence and Scala sedan, are way behind. This also means Renault India's sales are being driven by fast-selling models, the Kwid and the Duster.

The popularity of Kwid is expected to sustain the momentum for Renault. An enquiry with a local dealership  by IBTimes India confirmed over 5,000 bookings from Bangalore alone. Dealerships have already starts delivery of the hatchback and over 25 cars have already been delivered to the customers from a dealership from Bangalore.

The Kwid became an instant success in the market for its price and raised the ground clearance of 180mm, which is spot on for Indian roads. The segment leading model's features include Medianav system that has navigation Bluetooth audio streaming, hands-free telephony, USB and aux–input ports, and speed sensing volume control.

The Kwid also boasts of a ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl, which makes it the most fuel efficient petrol car in the country.

The Kwid hatchback is powered by a 799cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, which is tuned to churn out 53bhp at 5,678rpm and a peak torque of 72Nm at 4,386rpm mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
