Kuwait Bans Suriya's 'Masss'; Other Tamil Films Banned in Middle Eastern Country

Suriya's latest film "Massu Engira Masilamani", which hits theatres on Friday, 29 May, has been receiving positive reviews from movie-goers. However, Suriya fans in Kuwait have been left disappointed as the horror comedy film has been banned in the middle eastern country.

As per the religious beliefs of the country, only God has super powers and reports suggest that the Asian country decided to ban the film as Suriya will be seen with super powers in the film.

However, this is not the first Tamil film that has been banned in Kuwait.

"Demonte Colony"

Arulnithi's horror drama "Demonte Colony" was also reportedly banned in Kuwait. The film, directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu was released worldwide on 22 May, 2015.

"Kanchana 2" - "Ganga"

Another horror comedy -- directed and written by Raghava Lawrence -- also faced issues after the country banned its screening in Kuwait. The film was released on 1 May. Earlier, the prequel of the film, "Muni 2: Kanchana" was also banned in the country in 2011.

"Vishwaroopam"

Kamal Haasan's controversial film "Vishwaroopam" was banned from screening in Kuwait in 2013 fearing that the film might hurt the religious sentiments of the majority in the country.

Apart from these, Bollywood films, including "Yaariyaan", "Badlapur", "Baby", among many others were also recently banned in the country.
