A scene from the movie 'The Interview' that shows the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been leaked online. This comes hours after Sony pictures announced that they have cancelled the screening of the movie amid hack attacks.

The film, starring Seth Rogan and James Franco, was pulled off after the studio reportedly received threats of violence from hackers who are now confirmed to be from North Korea, according to US intelligence.

The hacking group – Guardians of Peace -- has been subject of much controversy after they leaked sensitive data, including salaries and industry emails in the 100 terabytes of data they hacked from the studio.

In the leaked scene, Kim Jong-un – played by American actor Randall Park – is shown dying in an explosion caused by a missile attack on a plane the leader is hanging on to. In the background of the leaked footage, a slow version of the Katy Perry's hit song "Fireworks" plays.

Sony Pictures had earlier announced the cancellation of the release of movie on Christmas Day following three weeks of hacking, leaks and threats.

This comes on a day when US officials confirmed that the North Korean government was behind the hacking attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment.
