Kannada film KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) starring Rocking Star Yash has received an earth-shattering response at the box office despite getting clashed with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero. The movie has smashed all the records for a film in Karnataka.

Released across 2460 screens in India, KGF opened to positive response from audience not just in the South Indian market but for the other languages as well. The multilingual film which was released in 5 languages has minted 18.1 crores nett all over India. The overall India grossing of KGF stands at Rs 24.50 crore.

People, who watched KGF in Mumbai, were all whistles and cheers for the onscreen performances and the high-flying action sequences in the film. Moreover, in some cinema halls, KGF witnessed better occupancy and offered a much bigger dose of entertainment than Zero to the audience.

KGF revolves around the Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka. It marks Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment's first Kannada venture. The film traces the history of gold mining and the mafia running it in the generous fields of Karnataka's Kolar region.

Starring Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Ramya Krishna, Ananth Nag, John Kokken, Achyuth Rao in the lead, KGF is a Homabale Films production directed by Prashanth Neel, produced by Vijay Kiragandur while Ravi Basrur has composed the music for KGF.

Depicting the Gold Fields from the late 70s, the period drama is being made in two parts.
