The official website of the Kerala government, www.kerala.gov.in, was hacked on Sunday morning by hackers who claimed to be from Pakistan

Early on Sunday, the website displayed a message, praising Pakistan, along with a picture of a burning Indian National Flag. "Struck By Faisal 1337. Official Website Government of Kerala Hacked! Pakistan Zindabad. We Are Team Pak Cyber Attacker. Security is just an illusion," the message read, according to Malayalam Manorama report.

The hacking was detected at around 8 am on Sunday, State IT Mission director Mohammed Safarulla said, according to The Times of India report. ''It is common that hackers from Pakistan take out their skills on Indian websites and vice versa. We don't think there is more to be concerned," he said.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy confirmed the hacking and said it was a "grave issue".

The cyber wing of the State police has initiated an investigation into the incident, IANS reported.

Kerala's Centre for Development of Imaging Technology, which is repairing the website, said that the server of the website was not hacked.

The page was under maintenance at the time of writing this report. "The site is under maintenance. We should be back shortly," the message on the website read at around 1:30 pm on Sunday.
