Kate Middleton-Prince William and the royal family are all set to ring in the Christmas celebrations. But if the latest royal buzz is anything to go by, then it looks like everyone has got their own plans. While the Queen has decided to host an elaborate traditional lunch, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are apparently planning to skip that to have a low-key Christmas tradition with the Middletons.

According to new reports, Queen Elizabeth II is hosting 31 guests for a traditional Christmas lunch at Sandringham. And apparently because of the huge gathering, the lesser royal guests will have to sleep in the servants' quarters. "There is going to be no room at the inn but the Queen will be delighted. She loves having the entire family around her and it will be wonderful for her and Prince Philip, and of course doting grandad Prince Charles, to see Prince George and little Charlotte," an insider told The Sunday Express.

But, Independent reported that Kate and William may not be joining the big bash and they would be spending a low-key and informal Christmas along with their children Princess Charlotte and Prince George and Kate's family -- her mother Carole, father Michael, brother James and sister Pippa.

The report said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the Christmas mass with the royal family, before they head to Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Apparently, Kate was spotted shopping in London at her favourite department store Peter Jones in Chelsea, where she reportedly purchased a wipe clean table cloth.

Meanwhile, a friend of Kate Middleton also told Daily Mail that the Duchess has spent hundreds on gaudy Christmas decorations for her Anmer Hall estate. The mother of two apparently went on a crazy shopping spree early November and bought glittery baubles, flashing tree lights and mounds of tinsel, which her two-year-old son George apparently loves.

"Kate has gone all out and there's a lot of glitter, sparkle and Christmas cheer. She wants it to be great fun for the kids. There is nothing formal or stuffy, it's all rather over the top and good fun. The Middletons always go OTT, and Kate and Will are following suit," a source said.

Now, royal watchers don't see this laidback Middleton-style Christmas going down too well with the Queen, who is known for hosting a rather more traditional and restrained Christmas gathering. Well, they claim that Kate Middleton and Prince William have clearly parted ways with the royal tradition, yet again.
