Suspicious blast at Hubli railway station in Karnataka injures 1

The minor explosion took place at platform No 1 of Hubli railway station.

A man has been injured after a low-intensity blast at Hubli railway station in Karnataka on Monday, October 21.

The minor explosion took place at platform No 1 of the railway station around 11.45 am, when a 22-year-old biriyani seller Hussein Saab Nayakwale took an unclaimed package in a bucket from an unreserved compartment of a train going from Vijaywada to Amaravati. Nayakwale was injured in the incident and has been shifted to KIMS hospital and is being treated there.

Police have reached the spot and are probing over the cause of the explosion. The whole area has been cordoned off and security has been tightened in the area.

The parcel box addressed to Kohlapur MLA that exploded at Hubli railway station

According to the reports, the exploded box was addressed to the MLA of Kolhapur, Prakash Abhitkar and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) made Nayakwale open the box in which his hand was grievously injured. A tape on the parcel read a message "No BJP, No RSS".

A preliminary investigation into the incident indicated that the explosion took place from a box that was carried by an unidentified person. However, the people at the station has claimed that it was a mobile phone blast.
