"Kappal" marks the directorial debut of Karthik G Krish, a former associate of director Shankar. The movie stars Vaibhav, Sonam Bajwa, Karunakaran, VTV Ganesh, Arjunan, Venkat Sundar and others in the cast.

While Natarajan Sankaran has composed the music, Dinesh Krishnan has handled the music with Anthony taking care of the editing department.

"Kappal" tells the story of five friends, who decide that they won't get married fearing that females could break their good friendship. But Vasu (Vaibhav), one of the members in their gang, wants to fall in love. The hero comes to Chennai and falls in love with Deepika (Sonam). But his friends oppose this relationship. The remaining part of the story in humorously told by the director.
