The "19 Kids & Counting" star, Jessa Duggar, who grabbed the headlines after a guest at her wedding criticised her for allegedly consummating her marriage to Ben Seewald in the church, has responded to the rumours Instagramming a quote about overcoming evil.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good," she wrote alongside a photo of the Bible passage, which reads: "Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honourable in the sight of all.

"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.'"

Last week, Duggar came under severe criticism when a wedding guest, who went by the name "Mary B", wrote on Christian fundamentalist blog "My Life As A Stay At Home Wife And Mom" that Duggar and Seewald were caught in an act of lust by her sister, Jinger.

"Multiple people were discussing that when Jinger opened the door to get Jess for the reception, she immediately closed the door with a look of shock on her face," wrote Mary B.

The newly-weds were in a closed room, and the said act of lust were reportedly seen by Mary B's daughters as well. It has not yet been confirmed if Mary B was indeed a member of the wedding party, but in the blog she mentioned that her daughters knew the Duggars from "Journey to the Heart," a local religious event.

"I was very upset when I was told about the incident that was witnessed by (my daughters) when the door to the room (Jessa and Ben) were in was accidentally opened. I am not sure why they would not wait for the evening to pray and then consummate God's marriage," she added.

Although a number of people have lashed out at Duggar for her alleged inappropriate behaviour, an equal number have sided with her, as they believe the entire incident has been blown out of proportion.

"Jesse isn't a nun, she is married to Ben not G-d. That Mary is a busy body who obviously doesn't get much lovin," a supporter's tweeted.

"They're married, not their Fault, they couldn't help it, this is being made into a bigger deal then it has to be," another supporter wrote.
