Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed released an audio clip online nearly a week after its militants launched the Pathankot terror attack, in which it mocked Indian security agencies for struggling to take down the six "mujahideen".

The attack that was launched at the Pathankot Airforce Base in the early hours of 2 January and went on for three days ended with the six terrorists being killed and seven Indian security personnel losing their lives.

Indian authorities had suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed's involvement in the attack from the beginning, even though the United Jihad Council based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) claimed the attack.

In the 13-minute audio clip uploaded on a website, the terror group called the Pathankot terror attack a "fidayeen operation" (suicide mission), and said they brought "such a big country to tears", The Times of India reported. Jaish-e-Mohammed also described the scene of the terror attack as "heavenly".

JeM hit out at the Pakistan government for 'bowing' to India's allegations.

"Pakistan ke ilaam India ke ilzaam ke saamne kyon jhukte hein? Kyon sharmate hein? (Why do Pakistan's leaders bow before India's allegations? Why do they shame us?)," the group said in the clip.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif conducted high-level security meetings on Thursday and Friday and ordered a probe into leads provided by Indian agencies on the involvement of Pakistani terrorists in the attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Pathankot airbase today after it was sanitised following three days of combing operations.
