Ireland's first androgynous model Ivan Fahy made headlines in 2014 when he wore heels to his graduation. While that was probably the first time many heard of Fahy, today he is someone who challenges social norms on a regular basis.

When asked why he chose to flaunt heels on the big day, he explained that a person's graduation is a special day and denotes years of hard work. "After such, one should be able to celebrate and present how they choose. My graduation day was my graduation day," he told Campus.ie.

"I decided to wear high heels to my graduation because if I lived in an ideal world I would. I didn't want to not wear them because I lived in a judging world so I basically set myself the challenge to do it and I did. If I backed down and didn't wear my high heels I would know that I succumbed to the restraints of society."

Today, Fahy lives in London and models for various brands. Speaking to the Irish Times about how the fashion industry is for men, Fahy said: "Men are still not as liberated in fashion as women – because in society so much is preventing them."

He describes himself as "gender fluid" and says he finds it fun to dress in a feminine way. He Fahy also explained that he likes wearing make-up but believes you should not overdo it. "You are trying to add to your face and not make a new one," he noted.

He might be very comfortable in his skin, Fahy says things are different when it comes to other people's reaction. "In the day time, being on my own is fine, but night time is risky," he explained. "I have long legs and the worst thing is when a man whistles at me thinking I am female, then realises that I am not . . . things can become hostile."

Meanwhile, we stumbled upon Fahy's Instagram account and can't stop raving about it. Wonder why? Take a look
