ISM is an action entertainer scheduled for worldwide release on October 21. Puri Jagannadh has written the story and screenplay and directed the movie, which features Kalyan Ram as an investigative journalist. Aditi Arya is seen playing his love interest in the film.

Kalyan Ram says ISM shows him in a brand new avatar. "When Puri and I recently watched the film, I told him it is going to be the best film in both our careers. The quirky title ISM is the ideology and philosophy that revolves around my character. You will see a new actor emerge out of me," the actor told in an interview to IANS.

Kalyan Ram has left no stone unturned to make ISM a big hit in his career. He has shed 12 kgs for the movie. "The character I play is so strong mentally and physically, that I was required to lose about 12 kgs. I had four months and I went from 86 kgs to 74 kgs. The process was very rigorous," the actor said.

The Pataas star has been seen flaunting his six-pack abs in the promos of ISM. When quizzed about it, Kalyan Ram says he is the last one to do it. "It is not a big deal to sport six-pack abs anymore. Most actors have one today. I'm probably the last actor to follow suit. However, I feel fit, thanks to the physical transformation," he added.

He says he hates fish, but he was forced eat it daily in order to tone his body. He credited the director for his transformation and makeover. "I hate fish, but I was required to eat three times a day. My family was in a state of shock and they couldn't believe what I had set out to achieve," Kalyan Ram said.

Kalyan Ram says there is absolutely no competition between him and his brother Junior NTR, who recently scored a blockbuster with Janatha Garage. "I am happy for my brother. I don't let his success affect me. His success is good both for the industry and our family. Both of us always strive to give good films, and then, it's the audience who will decide whether a film is good or bad," he added.
