ISL Semifinals First Leg News: Kerala Blasters Wary of Chennaiyin FC Despite Beating them 3-0

Kerala Blasters FC assistant manager Trevor Morgan insists that his side will not be complacent in the second leg of the semi-finals with Chennaiyin despite them recording a thumping 3-0 win over them in the first leg.

Strikes from Ishfaq Ahmed, Iain Hume and Sushanth Mathew proved too much for Chennaiyin, who were not even able to net a consolation.

Despite their healthy advantage, Morgan, who admits that Chennaiyin are a very good side, insists that his side will not be taking the ISL table-toppers lightly in the second leg.

"You have to approach the game positively. We won't go into the game thinking we are three goals up," the 58-year-old Englishman told ISL's official website.

"Football is not like that. We will go into the game as if the score is 0-0. This is important because teams have come back from three goals down. Chennai is a good team and we need to prepare for a tough game on Tuesday."

Meanwhile, Chennaiyin FC player-manager Marco Materazzi feels that his side still have a chance of making it to the finals of the Hero Indian Super League despite his side losing 0-3 to Kerala in the first leg.

After doing brilliantly in the group stages of the completion, where they finished on top of the table, Chennaiyin seem to lose focus in the first leg of the semi-finals against Kerala, and this resulted in them suffering a crushing defeat.

Still Materazzi is certain that his side will be able to turn the tables in the second leg, stressing that "nothing is impossible in football."

"Nothing is impossible in football, but it will be important not to concede in Chennai. The first half will be very important and we will have to take our chances," the former Italy defender told ISL's official website.

The 41-year-old Italian despite admitting that the task ahead of them is very difficult, is confident that his side will be able to do well in the second leg, if they believe in themselves.

"It is a very good result for Kerala and we have a lot to do in the second leg, especially because the third goal in the end makes it even more difficult for us. But it is important to believe in ourselves and try to fight back on Tuesday," the 2006 World Cup winner added.
