A bomb went off near Baghdad's Green Zone that houses most government buildings, killing two people on Thursday.

The central district near which the blast occurred houses the Iraqi parliament as well as the US embassy. The bomb went off about 200 meters from the zone, Reuters reported.

The capital city of Iraq has been under frequent terror attacks, mainly by the Islamic State, which has seized several parts of the Middle Eastern country.

On Sunday, two separate bombings were reported in Baghdad, in which 7 people were killed.

More details are awaited.
