Yoga -- a natural way to stay fit and healthy -- has been practised worldwide for years even though its history is uncertain.

People, who embrace yoga and meditation all around the world, are set to celebrate the first International Day of Yoga on Sunday, 21 June, 2015.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the special day for yoga on 11 December, 2014. It was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who suggested 21 June as the date as "it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world."

Dating back to 3000 B.C, the initial signs of practising yoga appear in ancient Shamanism and is also found in the Rigveda.

Meanwhile, many celebs like Lady Gaga, Alessandra Ambrosio and Jessica Alba have lauded the importance of yoga and consider it their mantra to stay fit and healthy.
