Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos are trying to rope in former Brazil World Cup winner Roberto Carlos as their marquee coach, as the Delhi-based outfit look forward to their second campaign in the lucrative league, starting on 3 October.

Roberto Carlos, 42, has been approached by the franchisee, owned by the Delhi-based DEN TV Network, according to India Today.

The owners are however silent on the Carlos pursuit, but it is highly mooted that they are looking forward to bringing in the former Sivasspor manager, by 30 June -- the last date to announce the marquee coaches and the marquee players by the eight ISL franchisees.

"We have approached many reputed names but nothing is certain as of now," Gaurav Tikoo, general manager, brands, DEN Network, told India Today.

The former Selecao International, referred to as one of the finest left-backs of all-time, was the manager of Turkish side Akhisar Belediyespor last season. He was also linked with a move to Qatar club Qatar Al-Arabi, but the club dismissed the rumours.

A part of Real Madrid's Galacticos era, Roberto Carlos won four La Liga titles and multiple UEFA Champions League titles as a player at the Santiago Bernabeu, besides lifting the 2002 FIFA World Cup with Brazil. He started his managerial career as an interim coach for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in 2012.

Dynamos were coached by Dutch coach Harm van Veldhoven in ISL 2014, and under his tutelage, the Delhi outfit finished fifth in the league.

There were earlier reports as well that the Delhi Dynamos were trying to rope in former Manchester United assistant manager Rene Meulensteen and former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre, as marquee managers, but nothing came out of it.

However, everything will be official by 30 June.

Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero was the marquee player for the side in the last edition, but he didn't really show his class in the league. It is believed John Arne Riise, the former Liverpool left-back, will be signed as the marquee player for this season by the Delhi Dynamos.

The franchise were also believed to be in talks with former World Cup-winning Spain skipper and defensive rock Carles Puyol, but the deal didn't go through as the Barcelona legend didn't agree to financial terms with the side.

The current salary cap for a player to participate in the ISL is Rs 20 Crore.

The Delhi-based franchisee start off their campaign in ISL 2015 against FC Goa in an away game on 4 October. So far, the side have announced the signing of Indian players Subhashish Roy Chowdhury and Len Doungel.
